International Bank Cards (Domestic or Overseas)#

International bank cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc., excluding UnionPay.

1. Go to the Billing settings page on GitHub and set up your payment method.
2. In the "Payment method" section, please select "Credit card".
3. Fill in your card number, expiration date, and CVV, then click "Save payment information".
4. On this page, select the amount you want to sponsor and confirm it.

UnionPay#

If you only have a UnionPay card, please use PayPal for payment.

Unfortunately, GitHub no longer supports PayPal, so you cannot sponsor with a UnionPay card. 😞

Apply for a new MasterCard debit card#

If you don't have an international bank card, you can apply for a new Bank of China MasterCard debit card.

Please refer to this article for specific steps. Thanks to @poplite for providing the guide.

Requirements#

• Applicant must be at least 16 years old.
• Applicant must hold a UnionPay debit card issued by Bank of China and belong to Class I account.

Steps#

1. Go to a Bank of China branch and open a UnionPay debit card. (Skip this step if you already have one)
   • Generally, you need to prepare your ID card, work/student ID, proof of residence, and your own mobile phone number.
   • If the bank branch refuses to issue a Class I card, insist on stating that you need it for overseas travel or foreign exchange purposes.
2. Apply directly on the website. Please refer to this article.
